The new Sleepy Hollow location encompasses approximately 50,000 square feet, including 30,000 square on the first floor and 7000 square feet on the second floor of supermarket shopping space. The second floor also boasts a spacious bar with patio, as well as a remarkable 5,000 square foot event space perfect for gatherings, celebrations, and community events. In addition, a sprawling 4,000 square foot outdoor area has been created to enhance the customer experience.

First Look at New Decicco & Sons in Sleepy Hollow, the Company’s Largest in Westchester

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg for what DeCicco & Sons offers at its new bi-level Sleepy Hollow store located in the Edge-on-Hudson development.

Set to open at 7:30 a.m., March 28, the sprawling 50,000 square-foot store — the largest in Westchester (only Brewster is bigger) and the second that’s been built from the ground up (Somers was the first) — also features a state of the art enhanced deli section with a carving and smoked meats section, a wider inventory of prepared foods (think more Asian and Latin products), a glass elevator and two events spaces, each of which has its own kitchen.

There’s almost no detail the owners behind the business — brothers John and Joe DeCicco Sr. and sons Chris, Joe Jr. and John Jr. — haven’t thought of, including nods to Sleepy Hollow with a Headless Horseman artistic cutout suspended behind the beer taps and purse pegs under the bar in the shape of the Headless Horseman.

Of course there are also rows and rows of grocery and pantry items.

“It’s uplifting,” said John DeCicco Sr. of the light-filled industrial space that has a cathedral feel thanks to its vaulted ceilings and numerous windows. “The store is so grand, once you’re in here, you won’t want to leave.”

Construction begins on new DeCicco & Sons at Sleepy Hollow’s Edge-on-Hudson community

There’s a lot going on at Edge-on-Hudson in Sleepy Hollow, but for foodies there’s only one thing to know: work on the new family-owned and operated DeCicco & Sons market is in full swing after a host of COVID and supply chain issues slowed them down.

Construction began in August and is expected to be finished in the next 16 months. This will be the company’s 11th store, having locations in Ardsley, Armonk, Bedford, Brewster, Eastchester, Harrison, Larchmont, Millwood, Pelham and Somers.

The new market will deploy a series of green initiatives for both construction and operation and is set to be built to LEED certification standards, keeping energy efficiency at the top of mind. Market operations will include a natural refrigeration system, with heat expelled from refrigeration being recycled for use as the market’s heat and hot water in cold weather months. DeCicco & Sons will also install the company’s largest solar array to date.

The DeCicco & Sons is the first retail construction underway at the expansive 70-acre mixed-use community. The project, located along the Hudson River, has expanded to meet demand. Its first phase — condominiums by Toll Brothers — sold out prior to construction. Also almost sold out: Nearly 92 townhomes. More than 98% of 425 apartment residences have also been leased.

In other culinary news, The Daymark condominium residences, now under construction on the waterfront, will feature the first waterfront restaurant. The restaurant operator has not yet been selected so stay tuned to The Journal News/lohud for details.

Moving into its second phase, the master development team of Biddle Real Estate Ventures and PCD Development announced a series of new retail and residential construction projects on-site. They include:

• Site work began in August for 90 new townhomes and a clubhouse by Sun Homes. This new neighborhood borders both Kingsland Point Park and the new Tappan Zee Park and features park and river views. Sales are anticipated to begin in the first quarter of 2024.
• Plans for a medical office building are set to be presented to the Village of Sleepy Hollow Planning Board later this fall.
• Planning for new parkland and open space is underway following the opening of phase one of the Sleepy Hollow RiverWalk, which restored access to a section of shoreline that had been closed for more than a century.

New condominium residences under construction at The Daymark have been a hot commodity at Edge-on-Hudson, with 25% of homes already under contract within just two months of the Sales Gallery’s opening. Scene From Netflix Hit Thriller ‘The Watcher’ Filmed At DeCicco’s In Larchmont

A scene from Netflix’s blockbuster hit new miniseries “The Watcher” was filmed at a supermarket in Westchester County.

DeCicco & Sons Larchmont announced that the scene was filmed at the store, located at 2141 Palmer Ave. in Larchmont, in a Facebook post on Thursday, Oct. 27.

“We’re on The Watcher! Right on time for spooky season & based on a true story, catch us on Netflix’s exciting new mystery thriller,” the business said. “Have you started watching yet?”

The series, which premiered on Thursday, Oct. 13, was created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan and stars Naomi Watts, Bobby Cannavale, Jennifer Coolidge, and Mia Farrow.

Though based in Westfield, New Jersey, the show also features scenes in other locations in Westchester County, including Rye and Yonkers, and the house that’s the backbone of the show is located in Rye.

DeCicco & Sons Opens in Bedford

The chain now has nine locations in Westchester and one in Putnam

BEDFORD, N.Y. – Grocery store chain DeCicco & Sons opened a new location in Bedford on Friday, March 25.
The chain, which now has nine locations in Westchester and one in Putnam, began in 1973 with a small storefront in the Bronx.

John DeCicco, the CEO of DeCicco & Sons, said that the Bedford location had been in the works for 10 years. It’s filling the space left vacant by Key Food Marketplace.

“We’ve been working on the Bedford location for a long time,” DeCicco said. “We actually secured and worked on the lease from at least all the way back to 2012. Finally, we made it here. Everyone’s been really impressed with the store so far, lots of positive feedback.”

DeCicco later said that this store also uses an environmentally friendly refrigeration system. The store is also looking into using solar energy.

“This store is our seventh location in Westchester that features a natural refrigerant system,” DeCicco said. “What that means is that all of the refrigerants in the store occurred from the environment and does not harm the ozone layer. We were one of the first stores in New York State to actually implement this technology back in 2014 in our Larchmont store. Since then, we’ve been upgrading all of our existing stores and all of our new stores opening with this new technology.”

DeCicco & Sons is located at 422 Old Post Road in Bedford. The store is open Monday-Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. On Sundays, the store is open from 8 to 7:30 p.m.

 

‘Award-winning’ New York Grocery Opening Hudson Valley Stores

A very popular Hudson Valley grocery store is opening up a few more locations. Are you excited?

DeCicco & Sons is expanding. The company says it provides a one-stop shop for specialty and gourmet groceries as well as everyday needs.

“We are your destination for specialty and gourmet groceries, as well as all of your everyday needs. We offer a full-service deli, chopped salad station, coffee and juice bar, bakery, fresh sushi, fully staffed butcher and seafood department, and beer,” the company write on Facebook.

DeCicco & Sons has locations in Brewster, Ardsley, Armonk, Eastchester, Harrison, Larchmont, Millwood, Pelham, and Somers.

Two more locations are joining the Brewster, Ardsley, Armonk, Eastchester, Harrison, Larchmont, Millwood, Pelham and Somers stores.

DeCicco & Sons plan to open up a Bedford location “this winter.”

“We are excited to open our Bedford location,” the company wrote on Facebook “We are scheduled to open this Winter!”

An official opening date isn’t clear.

DeCicco & Sons is also set to open up a new location in Sleepy Hollow in the near future.

In June 2021, the Village of Sleepy Hollow Planning Board approved plans for the stunning 30,000 square foot market, which will include a dramatic second-story glass-enclosed beer and wine café, oriented towards the Hudson River.

An adjacent 10,000 square foot retail space was also approved, of which 5,000 square feet are earmarked for a pharmacy.

DeCicco & Sons hopes to open the Sleepy Hollow store in 2022 though a timeline hasn’t been announced.

Popular Family-Run Supermarket To Open Two New Westchester Locations

A popular Westchester supermarket is set to open two new locations in the area.

Fans of the specialty grocery store will be happy to know that DeCicco & Sons recently announced its plans to open a new market in Bedford in March.

The new store will be the 10th store for the chain which also has an 11th location planned for Edge-on-Hudson in Sleepy Hollow.

No word yet on when that store will open.

Other DeCicco & Sons stores in the area include Ardsley, Armonk, Brewster, Eastchester, Harrison, Larchmont, Millwood, Pelham, and Somers.
