It’s that time of year again! We’re very happy to invite you to our 2nd year of Péché Mortel Day and our 4th year of Orval Day!

We are one of 68 bars around the world and one of only 21 in the United States to participate this year! For those of you who don’t already know, Brasserie Dieu du Ciel Péché Mortel (French for “Mortal Sin”) is a monster coffee imperial stout that was first brewed in the Montreal brew pub 17 years ago. Clocking in at 9.5% and infused with a decadent amount of coffee, Péché lives up to it’s name.

The party kicks off at 12pm and will be rocking all day. We’ll have a special brunch menu to accompany the 7 different variations of Péché Mortel as well as some of Die Du Ciel’s other amazing beers to round out the list.

For the celebration of Orval day we will be offering multiple vintages of Orval alongside Dieu Di Ciel’s beers. For each bottle of Orval sold, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to MAP International, providing lifesaving medicines to people in need around the world. A one-dollar cash donation to MAP provides $80 worth of medicine.

  • Orval Day 3/28 [BREWSTER, LARCHMONT, MILLWOOD]

Join us Saturday March 23rd as we are offering multiple vintages of Orval. The charity partner for 2019 is Safe Water Network, helping to bring clean, sustainable water to communities in Ghana and India. After we tally up Orval Day 2019 sales, Merchant du Vin will donate 50 cents to Safe Water Network for every bottle of Orval sold.

    What is Orval?

Orval was the first Brett beer to land on US shores, and has become the favorite beer for many star American brewers. ( “Brett” – brettanomyces – is a yeast variety that adds appetizing, sharp acidity and dryness.) Orval sells one beer, brewed to exquisite perfection within the walls of Notre Dame d’Orval Monastery in Belgium. It’s delicious when it leaves the brewery, but also evolves in the bottle for five years or more.

Find out more info about Orval Day here.
